During the Bourbonic Restoration under the reign of Alfonso XIII, Spain has lost its major prestige of the colonies (namely Cuba, Guam, the Philippines and Puerto Rico) causing the uprising Nationalist movements in many regions.

However in this timeline (before 1898), Alfonso XIII gave more powers to the colonial governments of the perspective colonies. He and his Presidente del Gobierno Praxedes Sagasta launched the reformations of the colonies and turn them into Viceroyalties (significantly equivalent to the British Dominions). The King also personally negotiated with the leaders of the Independent movements throughout the colonies and promised full self-governing status under the Spanish sovereignty. The leaders of the movements agreed with the king and the king himself appointed them as the Viceroys and Governor-Generals.

Later in 1910, Spain won the Second Melilla War against the Rif tribes. The prestige of the crown are more higher than the king could expected it. The King and his government officially annexed Morocco and the Spanish Sahara. Alfonso XIII was even more worried about situations in the future that someday in some part of Spain could revolt against the country. He and his cabinet, which led by José Canalejas y Méndez, began the negotiation of turning Spain into a federal state, which gives more power into a state/region governments (notably Galicia, Navarre, Catalonia and many regions). The Cortes Generales approved the King's request with the votes of 275 from the Cortes Generales.

After then in 1923, the coup d'etat led by General Primo de Rivera has been initiated. The King quickly denounced the Military Government and then establish the "Provisional Authority of Spain" to maintain civilian order. And The King as the Captain-General of the Armed Forces. The King personally issued the order to the forces to capture Primo de Rivera. General Primo de Rivera was publicly executed for treason against the Spanish state.

Later, the Cortes Generales has offered the title "Emperor of the Spaniard" to King Alfonso XIII, which he accepted. 2 months later, Alfonso XIII died from illness on April 14th, 1931. His son ascended the throne as "Alfonso IX", He was killed by a plane accident on the way to the United States on September 6th, 1938. His brother Jaime, Duke of Segovia ascended the throne as the Jaime I (or James I) of the Imperial Spain.

Spain, in this timeline, involved in the World War II, sided with the Allies. Spain stayed silent for the first years of the war. After the fall of France. British and Spanish Government decided to negotiate with the US Government to join the Allied. But the US President Roosevelt decided to stay neutral. Now both allied government decided to negotiate with the USSR. Which they accepted the terms and fought against the fascist Germany.

When France is liberated by Spain, The King decided to rule France through Personal Union. While Jaime was the Emperor of the Spaniard, he was also the King of the French by the new constitution of the Kingdom of France, ruled by the House of Bourbon. His title changed to His Imperial & Royal Majesty, Jaime I, By the Grace of God and Constitution of the State, Emperor of the Spaniard, King of the French. Also known in France as Jacques II

Jaime I died in 1975, the heir to the throne of Spain and France, Alfonso X (Alphonse II in France) ascended the throne. His contribution to his people are improving democracy, economy and military. He also promoting the relationships between Spanish-speaking community in the Americas. Which led to the establishment of the organization called as "Spanish Community of Nations"

Alfonso didn't reign both of the countries long enough, he died 14 years later. His son, Louis Alphonse ascended the throne as Louis I (in Spain) and Louis XX (in France) on January 30th, 1989.
